Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 20 weeks or longer Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current active nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: - Experience in telemetry and IV starts. - Familiarity with pre and post procedure care for cardiac patients. - Comfort managing cardiac drips. - Ability to handle busy patient ratios. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in cancellation. This unit requires nurses to be accustomed to a challenging and busy environment. The unit primarily focuses on cardiac and stroke patients. Nurses will provide pre and post-care for procedures such as pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization. The patient-to-nurse ratio generally ranges from 1:5 to 1:6. Travelers must be comfortable taking on a 6-patient assignment. There will be a call requirement based on patient census. Weekend shifts are mandatory, including every other weekend, two Mondays, and two Fridays within a 6-week period. Patients may include those with stable conditions such as unstable angina and low-risk chest pain. Nurses will administer various cardiac medications, including Cardiazem and Amiodarone. The unit typically sees a high patient turnover, with 78 to 90 patients per week. Nurses should be accustomed to a fast-paced work environment. There is a provision for a team lead to assist with admissions and discharges. Special equipment includes telemetry monitors and high flow O2 systems. Nurses may encounter patients requiring BIPAP during surges, but new BIPAP setups are not allowed. Candidates must be open to floating within the facility as needed. The role requires participation in a self-scheduling system overseen by leadership.
