Description: The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. The focus is on creating a caring environment that emphasizes healing and wellness. Nursing practices are based on evidence, current research, departmental policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Responsibilities include: Performing and documenting comprehensive assessments in accordance with the nursing scope of practice and hospital policies. Considering the patient’s culture, age, and developmental level when assessing needs. Identifying patient risk factors and presenting complaints. Implementing patient care therapies and procedures with empowerment and clinical autonomy. Explaining procedures, treatments, and processes to patients and families. Taking action to alleviate patient stress and discomfort. Recognizing, responding to, and communicating changes in patient condition. Conducting ongoing assessments and documenting responses to procedures and therapies according to established standards. Setting priorities for the care of multiple patients and organizing workload effectively. Monitoring accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care tasks. Facilitating the discharge process by executing discharge orders timely. Providing input into patient assignments based on staffing and patient acuity. Actively participating in unit-based activities supporting organizational values. Promoting a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions. Assuring nursing excellence in accordance with accepted standards and evidence-based practices. Participating in quality improvement activities and core measures such as patient satisfaction and falls prevention. Using a holistic perspective regarding patient care.
