Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Telemetry unit. This role requires a high level of skill and expertise in managing patients with various cardiac conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in cardiac care and telemetry nursing, coupled with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a Cardiac Telemetry unit.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry data to assess patient conditions.
  • Manage dysrhythmias and administer cardiac drips, both titrated and non-titrated.
  • Conduct sheath removal and handle post-cardiac catheterization care.
  • Apply non-invasive airway management techniques such as CPAP/BIPAP.
  • Manage chest tubes and perform wound care as needed.
  • Participate in the care of patients post-cardiac procedures including CABG and other vascular surgeries.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor.
  • Experience as a traveler nurse is preferred unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
  • Proficient in Cardiac Telemetry, PCU, IMC, and dysrhythmia management.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are mandatory.
  • Ability to perform arterial line management and possess wound care skills is preferred.
  • Charge experience is a plus.

Work Schedule and Requirements

  • Shift: Night shifts, 36 hours per week.
  • Contract Length: 13-26 weeks accepted.
  • Float Requirement: Flexibility to float within unit rotations as necessary.
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekends per 4 weeks, with flexibility.
  • Must be willing to work during storms, mass casualties, or disasters.

  • Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
  • Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
  • Valvular Heart Diseases
  • Cardiac and Thoracic conditions

Special Equipment Utilized

  • Arterial lines
  • Doppler devices
  • Bladder scanners
  • EKG machines
  • Chest tubes and pacing wires

Orientation and Scrubs

  • Unit Orientation: 24 hours.
  • Scrubs Color: Navy.

Internal notes: All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. Interviews will be conducted to assess candidate qualifications.
