Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Cardiac Telemetry to join our dynamic team. This role requires proficiency in managing a high-volume unit with a focus on cardiac and stroke care. Nurses will provide high-quality patient care for a diverse patient population, including pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar nursing role, managing similar patient ratios and acuity.
• Experience with IV starting, telemetry monitoring, and managing cardiac drips.
• Certification in ACLS, BCLS, and NIH is required.
• Familiarity with pre- and post-care for procedures including pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization.

Job Details

Target Ratios: 1:5-6 patients per nurse, adaptable based on unit needs.

Contract Length: 13-26 weeks available.

Hours: 36 hours can be offered.

Shift: 12-hour nights from 18:45 to 07:15.

RTO: Maximum of 7 days for auto offer. No block scheduling available.

Call and Float Requirements

• On-call requirements vary based on patient census.
• All nurses may be required to float to different units as needed.
• Weekend duty includes every other weekend and specific Mondays and Fridays in a six-week cycle.

Patient Care Responsibilities

This unit serves as the primary facility for cardiac and stroke patients. Responsibilities include:

• Providing care for cardiac patients receiving cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone).
• Handling patients with conditions such as unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, and TIA.
• Managing telemetry monitoring and patient assessments.
• Coordinating with the team lead for admissions and discharges.

Special Procedures and Equipment

Nurses will be required to work with various equipment including:

• Telemetry and pulse oximetry devices.
• High Flow O2, non-rebreather masks (palliative use only), and BIPAP (chronic use only).

Orientation and Scrubs

New hires will undergo a mandatory orientation program lasting 36 hours. Travelers must be available each day during the first week for orientation.

Scrubs Policy: Navy blue or white scrubs are permitted, along with Novant t-shirts. Jackets should match the uniform in material and color. Footwear must comply with safety guidelines (no holey crocs).

Other Information

All candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to starting the role. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment, handling a significant patient turnover on a weekly basis.
