Location: Salisbury, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week. Every other weekend required, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period. Float and call requirements based on unit census.
Highlights:
- Fast-paced cardiac telemetry and stroke unit serving as the primary cardiac and stroke care center
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6 with high patient turnover (78-90 patients weekly)
- Experience with cardiac drip titration, pre/post cardiac procedures, and stroke care
- Epic (Dimensions) charting system; Pyxis medication management
- Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available through February 27
- First-time travelers and local candidates welcome at competitive rates
- 36-hour orientation provided in first week
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience in a similar high-acuity environment
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- ACLS, BLS/BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- IV start and cardiac telemetry skills essential
- Experience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone) and titration protocols
- Proficiency with pre/post cardiac catheterization care, PCI, pacemakers, and TR bands
- Comfortable managing 6-patient assignments in fast-paced settings
- Willingness to float within facility and work flexible scheduling
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Patient Population & Clinical Focus:
- Primary cardiac and stroke patient population including stable pre/post pacemaker implantation, cardioverter/defibrillator insertion, and cardiac catheterization
- Post-procedure peripheral vascular and cardiac intervention patients
- Acute stroke (CVA) and TIA patients requiring specialized neurological assessment
- Cardiac conditions including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, and post-MI care
- Management of patients on high-flow oxygen, non-rebreather masks, and chronic BIPAP
- COVID-positive patients during surge periods with specialized respiratory support
Skills & Procedures:
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Arterial line management, central line care, and peripheral line management
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- IV insulin protocol management and titration
- Wound care including wound vac management
- Post-cardiac angiogram and cardiac surgery care
- Use of rapid response and code teams
Unit Environment:
- 41-room unit with 37 average daily census
- Team lead support for admissions and discharges during high-volume periods
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
- Self-scheduling with leadership oversight to ensure balanced coverage
- Navy blue or white scrubs required (mixture acceptable)
