Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Strong cardiac telemetry background. Ability to decrease cardiac drips per physician's orders and parameters. Experience caring for telemetry patients. Description: This is a telemetry position requiring specific skills. Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start. There is a PASS/FAIL simulation lab on the first day of orientation. Failing the exam will result in being marked as Do Not Use for 6 months. The unit consists of 60 emergency department beds. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. Nurses will care for patients waiting for placement on a unit. Common diagnosis types include telemetry patients. Nurses must have the ability to interpret cardiac strips. No monitor technologists are available on the unit. Shifts are typically 12 hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. There is an ability to self-schedule; however, this may change. A requirement of 4 weekend shifts is expected in a 4-week schedule. Holidays will be rotated among permanent staff. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Nurses may float to other units as needed. Nurses will assist with emergency department patients in vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration. The cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel a specific number of shifts during the assignment. Charting is performed using an electronic health record system.
