Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor required License: Current and valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler experience required unless the traveler has more than 24 months of cardiac experience Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a cancellation and DNR. Skills required include Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, sheath removal, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias. Experience in post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and managing cardiac drips is essential. Candidates should be able to manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), external CPAP/BIPAP, nasal cannula, and perform non-invasive airway management. Preferred skills include arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience. The patient ratios vary per acuity, with ratios of 1:3 for surgical step down and 1:4 for cardiac and vascular surgical patients. The role includes caring for patients with diagnoses such as atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, and various valvular heart diseases. Special procedures performed include CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, and other cardiac surgeries. Familiarity with special equipment such as arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, and EKG is beneficial. The unit utilizes medication, documentation, and communication systems. Candidates must be able to float within or near the facility as required. Weekend requirements include working 4 shifts per 4 weeks, which is flexible. Candidates should be prepared to work during storms or disasters.
