Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Tele

Position Overview

This role is focused on providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a cardiac telemetry setting. The Registered Nurse will manage patients with a variety of cardiac conditions and those requiring telemetry monitoring. The position involves administering continuous intravenous (IV) medications and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin.
• Administer diuretics such as Bumex and Lasix, along with anticoagulants like Aggrastat, Argatroban, and Heparin.
• Utilize insulin drips for patients requiring glycemic management.
• Care for patients with conditions such as arrhythmia management, cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal issues, and pulmonary diseases.
• Monitor and assess patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Perform cardioversion and care for post-surgical patients, including those with vascular implants and cardiac catheterization procedures.
• Support patients with DKA and manage occasional orthopedic or CVA patient overflow.
• Participate in the education and support of patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Experience managing continuous IV medications is mandatory.

Patient Population

This role involves caring for adult to geriatric patients with diverse medical needs.

Work Environment

The position is located in an overflow Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5-6. The unit has 32 beds and utilizes Epic and Pyxis systems for healthcare management.

Shifts and Scheduling

The role requires night shifts (3x12 hours, from 19:00 to 07:00). Weekend shifts are typically every other weekend, with scheduling based on staff availability. Floating within the facility may occur as needed.

Holidays and Time Off

• If one major holiday occurs during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work it.
• For two major holidays, the traveler is required to work both.
• If three major holidays occur, the traveler must work at least two of the holidays.

Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day.

Compliance

Full compliance is required to ensure a timely start. Any delays may result in a two-week pushback due to orientation scheduling.

Additional Information
