Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Compact or state license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Telemetry and Medsurg experience over 1 year Experience with cardiac drips and EKG Familiarity with charting system Description: Please ensure the traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting the role, the unit manager may assign the nurse to an emergency team. There will be an expectation to stay until the event passes or to be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing the travel contract to take a position, the nurse accepts the above and will report as assigned by the immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. Candidates must be willing to work 2 of the 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Although Halloween is not a paid holiday, some units may require coverage. Holiday assignments are based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation. The patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Weekend coverage is required every other week. Float and call requirements apply. The unit will accept first-time travelers. Daily census includes adult and geriatric patients. Key skills include accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, feeding tube management, heparin protocols, interpretation of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, managing cardiac drips without titration, and starting and maintaining IVs. The facility has an interdisciplinary support team, including physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Additional certifications and report requirements apply. All travelers must be separated from the facility for one full year before returning as travelers.
