TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Telemetry RN in Shreveport, Louisiana, 71103!

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 Years Minimum Experience Required License: Active Nursing License Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Chemo Certification Preferred Must-Have: Strong experience in medication administration, IV start skills, port access, drain management, infection prevention, and central line management with blood draws. Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Description: The unit has 25 beds. Patient types include Medical, Surgical, and Oncology. Patients may receive chemotherapy, radiation, direct admissions, comfort care, and end-of-life care. Bone marrow transplants are not performed on this unit. Patient ratios are as follows: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6 for RNs. CNA ratios are 2:25 during Days and 1:25 during Nights. The charge nurse will take a patient assignment. Phlebotomy is for peripheral blood draws only. A VAT team is available for PICC/Midline placement. There will be two nursing supervisors available 24/7. Charting is completed using an EMR system. IV pumps utilized are Alaris, and medication dispensing is through Pyxis. The schedule includes working four days one week and three days the next week, with mandatory weekend rotations every other weekend. Time off requests must not exceed 7 days. Additional requests for time off may require an extension of the contract. The unit has a culture that is protective of patients and experiences high turnover on the night shift. Scrub color required is Pewter, with jackets in gray or black; badges must be worn visibly at all times.
