Description:
Data Collection occurred on 10/02/2026.
The unit consists of 23 beds and has a staff of 37.
Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 4 registered nurses, 2 technicians, and 1 unit secretary.
Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 4 registered nurses, along with 2 technicians.
The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:6, while the patient-to-tech ratio is 1:10-15.
Key equipment includes IV pumps, sequential pumps, vein finders, bladder scanners, EKG machines, integrated vital signs monitors, computers on wheels, and EMR - Expanse.
Typical skills sought include previous telemetry experience and the ability to draw labs.
Candidates should have at least one year of acute care experience in a medical/surgical, telemetry, or stepdown unit.
Common procedures performed on the unit include lab draws, IV insertions, foley insertions, administering IV fluids, and medications such as antibiotics.
Preparing patients for surgical and non-surgical procedures and effective communication with physicians is essential.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate kindness, critical thinking skills, and an understanding of patient safety and experience.
Weekend shifts will be required, with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
Attendance at daily huddles at the beginning and end of shifts and bedside shift reporting is required.
Completion of required daily charting is necessary.
