Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Compact or state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certification Must-Have: - Experience with high acuity ICU patients - Familiarity with PA catheters and balloon pumps - Ability to float to other ICUs and SDUs Description: This position involves caring for surgical recovery patients in a high acuity setting. You will be assigned as part of the Emergency Team. There is an expectation to remain at the facility during emergency events. Experience in transplant recovery for liver, heart, lungs, kidney, and pancreas is required. Knowledge of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy is also necessary. Skills in arterial line management and ventilator management are essential. You will work with a patient ratio of 1:2. Familiarity with Epic charting system is preferred. Responsibilities include managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and performing phlebotomy. You are expected to administer blood products and perform central line care. Suctioning and monitoring of arterial blood gases will also be part of your duties. Infection prevention and isolation precautions are critical aspects of the role. The capacity to interpret dysrhythmias and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips is needed. You must be prepared to manage patients coming directly from the operating room. Experience in caring for post-op patients, including those undergoing CABG and valve replacement procedures, is ideal. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary support including physical therapy and respiratory services. Applicants must be comfortable floating to other ICUs as necessary.
