Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: SICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty License: Active Registered Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: Must have MICU and/or SICU experience. Independent, competent ability to work with complex, high acuity medical and trauma/neuro/surgical ICU patients is required. Description: The position requires experience in both medical and surgical intensive care. Candidates should be comfortable with managing high-acuity patients. Experience with a patient ratio of 2 is preferred. Familiarity with charting systems is preferred. Charge experience is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in Trauma Level I is required, while Trauma Level II experience is preferred. Candidates must have skills in accessing and managing ports, as well as arterial line management. They should also be knowledgeable in area such as blood product administration and care of ventilated patients. Candidates will be expected to manage central lines and monitor central venous pressure. Experience with continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade is required. Familiarity with managing respiratory failure and performing procedures like chest tube insertion/removal is essential. The role includes monitoring dysrhythmias and interpreting arterial blood gases. Skills in managing IV insulin protocols and massive transfusion protocol are valued. Involvement in pre/post cardiac cath/intervention and procedural sedation is required. Familiarity with specialty equipment including ECMO, IABP, and ventilators is important. Candidates will float within the critical care division based on unit needs. Weekend scheduling will vary based on unit requirements. Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and others. Experience with a range of patient diagnoses from comprehensive medical cases to surgical and trauma patients is expected. The unit consists of both medical and surgical intensive care units serving a varied patient population.
