Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Evening/Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM. Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. 3:1 patient ratio.

Highlights
  • Work in specialized IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units at a Magnet-designated academic medical center and Level I Trauma facility
  • Care for acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities including telemetry oncology, cardiac, post-transplant, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension populations
  • Comprehensive orientation of 36 hours with robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Epic charting system experience required; collaborative environment where nursing voices are valued in patient care decisions
  • 29-bed unit providing both general care (1:4 ratio) and IMC level care (1:2 ratio) requiring strong critical thinking and teamwork
  • Contract length and full assignment details available upon inquiry
Requirements
  • Active Wisconsin RN license or valid Compact RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown specialty
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Experience in an Academic Level I or II trauma center or similar size hospital
  • Required clinical experience: Telemetry oncology, cardiac telemetry, PCU/Stepdown, ventilator management, and post-transplant care
  • Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start date with strict passing criteria (80% minimum, 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms)
  • Proficiency in arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, cardiac drips titration, and managing hemodynamically unstable patients
  • Floating to similar units as needed; candidates residing within 50 miles of facility will not be considered
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
