Stepdown Care Unit Registered Nurse – Night Shift

  • Schedule: Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 19:00 – 07:30 | 36 Guaranteed Hours Per Week
    • Scheduling & Weekend Protocol: Block scheduling attempted with unit supervisor. Every-other-weekend requirement (Friday/Saturday for night shift). Every-other-holiday rotation (includes working companion day of major holidays). No call/standby required.
    • Floating Protocol: Travelers float first. Eligible to float to ICU (if extensive ICU background), other Stepdown units (3:1 ratio), or General Med/Surg (5–6:1 ratio) based on clinical skill set.
    • Local Candidate Rate Tier: Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a $25.00/hr bill rate reduction.
    • Non-Billable Orientation: 12 non-billable orientation hours (1 day Epic, 1 day educator orientation, 1 day floor preceptorship).

       

Submission Hardstops [STRICT & NON-NEGOTIABLE]

  • Experience & Clinical Baseline [HARDSTOP]: Minimum 1+ years of recent ICU or Intermediate/Stepdown RN experience maintaining 3:1 or 2:1 patient ratios [HARDSTOP]. Progressive Care (PCU) or General Telemetry experience alone is strictly non-qualifying.
  • Respiratory & Mechanical Ventilation Experience [HARDSTOP]: Direct clinical competence and hands-on experience managing tracheostomies and trached patients on mechanical ventilators strictly required [HARDSTOP].
  • Vasoactive Drip Titration Competency [HARDSTOP]: Proven capability to independently titrate critical care intravenous infusions (Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and low-dose/infrequent vasopressors) [HARDSTOP].
  • State Licensure [IN-HAND AT SUBMISSION]: Active Illinois State RN License (or official proof that the IL licensure application process has been initiated) [HARDSTOP].
  • National Certifications [IN-HAND AT SUBMISSION]: Active AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification [HARDSTOP]. AHA ACLS strongly recommended.
  • EMR Proficiency [HARDSTOP]: Direct clinical documentation experience in Epic EMR strictly required [HARDSTOP].
  • Submission Candidate Profile Requirements [HARDSTOP]: Last 4 digits of SSN, Middle Initial, Requested Time Off (RTO), and acknowledgment of OSF Drug-Free Campus policy (negative drug screen) required at submittal [HARDSTOP].
  • Dress Code Compliance: Any color scrubs allowed. Artificial/gel nails and chipped polish strictly prohibited. No visible tattoos or body piercings (females permitted one pair of simple earrings).
