Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Surgical Oncology RN – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights or nights only based on unit needs; variable weekend coverage; 16-week contract; 72-hour orientation

Highlights:

• Mixed acuity unit caring for both PCU and Medical-Surgical patients with a focus on surgical oncology
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive plastics
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4 (may flex to 1:5); 36-bed unit with comprehensive interdisciplinary support
• Epic EMR system; experience with chemotherapy, blood transfusions, insulin/heparin drips, oncologic emergencies, and cytokine release syndrome
• Floating may be required to other acute care oncology units within scope of practice
• Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety initiatives

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU/Step-Down experience (current and consistent within the last 12 months)
• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license in hand at time of submission)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
