Description

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown Registered Nurse – New Jersey

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Southern New Jersey

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36-bed unit with 26 average daily census, every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), one holiday required, no on-call

Highlights:

  • Progressive Care Unit specializing in stroke/neuro care, respiratory failure management, and patients requiring close monitoring
  • Epic charting system with 24 hours of orientation provided
  • Floating required to similar units only; staff will not float outside their scope of practice
  • Manage telemetry monitoring independently, titrate cardiac drips (Cardizem, Cardene, Nitroglycerin), and Precedex drips for withdrawal management
  • Interdisciplinary team support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Rapid Response Teams
  • First-time travelers accepted with minimum one year of PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience

Requirements:

  • Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license at time of submission
  • Minimum 1 year of PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Proficiency in cardiac drip titration, telemetry monitoring, central line management, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, and managing dysrhythmias
  • Experience with high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, arterial blood gas interpretation, and IV protocols (Heparin, Insulin)
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
