Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN – Acute Leukemia and Hematology – Ohio

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs. Variable weekend coverage based on unit requirements.

Highlights:

  • Specialty focus on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients in a 24-bed acute hematology unit
  • High-acuity medical unit with extensive blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
  • Goal staffing ratio of 1:4, with occasional 1:5 assignments
  • Epic electronic medical record system with GE telemetry monitoring
  • 72-hour comprehensive orientation program
  • Strong interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and interpretation services
  • May float to other Medical-Surgical Oncology units as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU/stepdown experience (experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months)
  • Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS, ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line care
  • Competency in PICC line management, peripheral line care, feeding tube management, and starting IVs
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required
  • 2 professional references required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership role
