Description

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 5, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week. Rotating weekdays and weekends with rotating holidays. Float required within the health system. Approximately 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks.

Highlights:

  • 3:1 patient ratio on nights, weekends, and days
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted (1 year of PCU experience required; manager review for candidates with only 1 year)
  • 36-hour orientation provided to support successful transition
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
Requirements:
  • Valid Registered Nurse license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit/Stepdown experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference)
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Clinical Skills:
  • Cardiac telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula management
  • Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
  • Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
  • Ventilated patient care and tracheostomy management
  • Titration of cardiac drips and insulin drips
  • Heparin protocols and management of dysrhythmias
  • Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Post lung transplant and chronic ventilated patient management
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
