We are seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) to join a hospital in Hilo, HI and provide high-quality intermediate care to patients requiring close monitoring between the ICU and general medical-surgical floors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in telemetry interpretation, hemodynamic assessment, and the management of patients with complex, evolving conditions. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, collaborative clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and interpret continuous cardiac telemetry and notify providers of significant rhythm changes
• Perform frequent neurological, hemodynamic, and respiratory assessments on intermediate-acuity patients
• Administer vasoactive drips, IV medications, and titrate therapies per physician orders and unit protocols
• Manage patients with chest tubes, arterial lines, and other intermediate-care invasive devices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, medications, and discharge planning
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record
✅ Requirements
• Active HI or Compact RN license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (preferred), Procedural Sedation (preferred), TNCC (preferred), ENPC (preferred) certifications
• 2+ years of Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
Pay
Pay range: $2,124 to $2,181 per week.
Travel Stepdown RN package: up to $2,181/week (36 hours) = $40/hour taxable + up to $741/week in travel reimbursements if eligible under IRS tax-home and expense rules.
Local package: $59/hour fully taxable ($2,124/week for 36 hours).
Overtime paid in accordance with applicable wage-and-hour laws and the assignment agreement. Actual compensation varies based on hours worked, assignment terms and travel reimbursement eligibility.
