Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Cardiac Telemetry – South Carolina

Start Date: September 21, 2026

Location: Columbia, South Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 4:1 patient ratio | 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period | Floating required when needed based on census | Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Highlights:
  • Specialized cardiac telemetry unit with an average daily census of 24 patients
  • Strong focus on cardiac diagnoses including chest pain, arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, and post-procedural care
  • Epic EMR system with Pyxis charting (minimum 1 year Epic experience required)
  • 36-hour orientation with comprehensive pre-assignment modules (reimbursable up to 16 hours)

  • Multidisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
Requirements:
  • Active RN license (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac telemetry nursing experience
  • Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Experience with 4:1 patient ratios preferred
  • Charge experience, community hospital, LTAC, and trauma level experience preferred
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of application
  • Must be willing to float to other units as qualified when census requires
  • Flu vaccination required with no exemptions; COVID-19 vaccine not required
Clinical Skills and Competencies:
  • Cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management and titration of cardiac drips including heparin, cardizem, nitroglycerin, and insulin
  • Post-procedural care for cardiac catheterization, cardioversion, ablation, and pacemaker/ICD implantation
  • Blood product administration and central line management
  • Experience with PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, and wound care
  • BiPAP/CPAP management and high flow nasal cannula
  • Care for CVA patients and management of various cardiac conditions including post-MI and pre/post cardiac surgery
Patient Population:

This unit cares for adult patients with cardiac diagnoses related to chest pain and arrhythmias. Patients may undergo procedures such as heart catheterization, nuclear stress tests, cardioversion, ablation, or pacemaker/ICD implants. The unit also provides pre-operative preparation for patients requiring CABG procedures and manages patients with medical histories of cardiac disease requiring continuous telemetry monitoring.
