Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Surgical (ICU Surgical) Registered Nurse (RN) position located in a healthcare facility. This role involves caring for post-surgical, trauma, and endovascular patients within a busy ICU environment. The RN will manage titratable drips, interpret patient strips, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The assignment requires a commitment to the specified schedule and relevant certifications.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application process has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association) certifications; at least 1 year of ICU experience; minimum required experience: 0 years
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Level I trauma, ICU settings, ventilators, and telemetry monitoring; ability to read and interpret strips; familiarity with EPIC charting system
- Float: Float: Float rotation may be required
- Additional Information: The unit is a surgical ICU with a patient ratio typically around 1:2, which may vary from 1:1 or 1:3. Staffing includes a charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7, with in-house hospitalists and intensivists on duty. RTs are available 24/7, and nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting strips. No specific scrub colors required, and orientation includes comprehensive training and shadowing. Weekend shifts (6 out of 6 weeks) and holiday coverage (every other holiday) are required. No call standby; floating to lower care levels is expected with a team.
