Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Rehab

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 8-hour shift options may also be available (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend and holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Rehabilitation unit with 10 patients in private rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Common diagnoses include 40% stroke, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, and a variety of disabilities with an average stay of 10-14 days (adult unit only, no pediatric patients)
• Required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab, held around 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
• Travelers may be assigned as charge nurse with a 1:5 patient assignment
• CNAs available during day and evening shifts; no CNA coverage from 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• PT, OT, SLP, and rehab physician support available on unit
• RNs responsible for administering nebulizers and inhalers; RT handles CPAP and BiPAP for nights with RN able to remove
• IV fluids, antibiotics, and heparin drip (transitioning to Coumadin) are common drip types
• Floating to similar med-surg tele units may be required
• Any color scrubs required; must be clean and professional
• Orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
• Charting system: Cerner
• First-time travelers accepted with prior rehab experience; med-surg nurses accepted with prior travel experience
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA)

Facility:

This acute care facility is a Level 2 trauma center offering a wide range of inpatient medical services. The rehabilitation unit provides specialized care for patients recovering from stroke, trauma, orthopedic, and neurological conditions in a private room setting. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic charting system and maintains a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to patient care including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and rehabilitation physicians.
