Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Rehabilitation. The role provides nursing care to adult patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting, supporting individuals recovering from stroke, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, and other disabilities. The position collaborates with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team and participates in patient care conferences.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 36 hours per week; every other weekend and holiday required.
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); valid nursing license; minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; rehabilitation experience required for first-time travelers.
- Additional Information: Adult rehabilitation unit with approximately 10 private-room beds and a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5. Common diagnoses include stroke, trauma, orthopedic and neurological conditions, and a variety of disabilities. Responsibilities include administering intravenous fluids and antibiotics, managing heparin infusions when transitioning patients to Coumadin, providing nebulizer and inhaler treatments, participating in interdisciplinary team conferences, and collaborating with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, rehabilitation physicians, respiratory therapy, and nursing assistants. The unit does not accept pediatric patients. Charge nurse assignments may be included, and orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts.
