Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Rehabilitation specialty at a leading acute-care hospital in Louisville, KY. We are looking for a dedicated RN to provide exceptional care in a mixed acuity unit, focusing on patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, burns, and multi-trauma cases.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 10 beds
• Minimum Years of Experience Required: 1 year
• First-time travelers are welcome with manager approval.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Mixed acuity unit (SCI, burns, vascular, multispecialty)
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Strokes (CVA), Amputees, Burns, Pediatric and Multi Trauma
• Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients.

Patient Ratios:

• 1:6-7, typically could go up to 7 2-3 times per month.

Required License and Certifications:

• BLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

• Trach care, bipaps, cpaps, IVs, PICC, central lines, wound care, bowel programs, TPN, drains/tubes
• Experience with pulmonary patients with trachs, laryngectomies, central lines, G-tube/Peg-tube (tube feeds)
• Vents

Support within the Department:

• Phlebotomy support, but RNs are ultimately responsible
• PCA/CNA ratio: 1:7-8
• Unit Coordinators (secretaries) available from 0700-2300
• Collaboration with MDs, NPs, and Residents
• PT/OT/ST support
• No monitors on unit; vital sync monitors connect to Oxy net with a centralized monitoring area at night.

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Cerner
• IV Pump: Plum 360
• Med dispensing: Omnicell

Floating:

• Staff may float within their scope of practice; travelers do not care for pediatric patients.

Orientation:

• Monday: Online
• Tuesday: NVCI (In-person)
• Wednesday: Frazier Orientation (In-Person)
• The rest of the hours for the week will be scheduled.

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: Every 3rd weekend
• No on-call duties
• Holiday Expectations: Some holidays required; if back-to-back holidays occur, you will be assigned one of the groupings.
• Approval of RTO must go through the manager.
• Shift times: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
• Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks
