The unit features 18 beds with a patient ratio of 1:6. Staffing includes techs with a ratio of 1:12, increasing to 2 techs for 16-18 patients. Equipment in use includes Accuvein, Welch Allen vital machines, Baxter IV pumps, SCDs, bladder scanners, and Kangaroo pumps. Documentation is managed through a Meditech system. Nurses are expected to work 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend. There is a floating policy to other medical-surgical departments based on experience. Experience in rehabilitation is preferred for this role. Nurses will perform medication administration, including oral, topical, IV, and central line management. Other procedures include PEG tube administration, bladder scans, trach care, tube feeding, Foley catheterization, TPN, and blood administration. The dress code consists of navy blue scrub tops and bottoms. Nurses will have the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physiatrists. This collaborative approach aims to enhance patient functional improvements and achieve goals for functional independence.
