Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Rehabilitation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours (5:00 am - 5:30 pm) Experience: Minimum of 1 year of inpatient acute rehabilitation experience License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS certification required; rehab certification is a plus; QIM experience preferred Must-Have: Experience in inpatient acute rehabilitation; previous travel experience is highly preferred Description: Drivers License required for the position. The unit accommodates 30 beds with patient-nurse ratios depending on acuity, ranging from 1:6 to 1:8. Common diagnoses include post-operative cases from cardiovascular surgery, falls, knee surgeries, back surgeries, strokes, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Some patients may be post-acute COVID for conditioning. PICC lines and ports are managed on this unit. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common titratable medications include IV fluids, electrolytes, antibiotics, and blood products. There is no continuous telemetry monitoring on this unit. A charge nurse is present during the day until 11:00 pm and is responsible for night/weekend/holiday coverage. There are 2-3 nursing techs on the unit depending on census, responsible for assisting with ADLs and vital signs, including a dedicated tech for showers. Respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP can be used if patients have them at home, with assistance for settings provided by respiratory therapy. The schedule is built by the team lead/manager, aiming to accommodate block schedules while maintaining flexibility. Weekend and holiday shifts are expected to meet the needs of the unit. There is standby duty in case of low census and pending admissions. Floating to med-surg is required as needed. Scrubs are to be worn in Caribbean Blue. The charting system in use is EPIC. There is no requirement for a BSN for this position. This role is set in an acute care setting with a trauma level of 2.
