Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Rehabilitation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: VA License required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Rehabilitation experience is required. Description: This position is for an inpatient rehabilitation unit. The unit has a total of 35 beds. Patient ratios are typically 5-7 patients per nurse. Staffing includes techs who assist based on patient census, usually 2-4 available. Required equipment includes vital signs machines, IV pumps, SCDs, and bladder scanners. Documentation is done using a Meditech system. Scheduling requires working 12-hour shifts with every other weekend. There is a floating policy where staff may be floated to other medical-surgical departments. Rehabilitation experience is preferred for this role. Key responsibilities include medication administration including IVs, PICC lines, and PEG tube administration. Additional procedures performed are bladder scans, trach care, tube feeding, Foley catheter insertion, bladder irrigation, and blood administration. The dress code is navy blue or white solid scrubs. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The team includes nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiatrists, physician assistants, and neuropsychologists. The goal is to impact patient functional improvements and achieve patient independence.
