Patient-to-nurse ratio of 5-7:1. Unit staffed with techs depending on census, usually 2-4. Equipment includes vital sign machines, IV pumps, SCDs, and bladder scanners. Documentation is performed using Meditech. 12-hour shifts required, with every other weekend scheduled. Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical departments may be necessary. Experience in rehabilitation is preferred, although not advanced skills are required. Procedures performed on the unit include medication administration, IV care, PEG tube administration, bladder scans, trach care, tube feeding, Foley catheter insertion, bladder irrigation, and blood administration.
