Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) – Operating Room

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13-Week Assignment | 12-hour varied shifts, 2 shifts per week with rotating weekend call coverage
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor the physical status of surgical patients, collecting and recording data through patient interviews, observation, review of records and diagnostic results, and consultation with the care team
- Actively listen to patients, determine their perception of needs, and provide appropriate responses related to the surgical procedure
- Identify and implement nursing interventions necessary for expected outcomes based on specific surgery, illness, injury, or disease, and apply OR standards of care
- Anticipate potential problems, adapt to changes in surgical procedure or patient status, and set priorities during emergencies or unusual occurrences
- Create and maintain a sterile field and anticipate equipment and supply needs prior to case start
- Evaluate nursing interventions in relation to established expected outcomes and reassess patient status, communicating revised plans of care as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active State of California Registered Nurse License
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required
- American Heart Association ACLS Certification required
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) required
- Certified Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) required
- Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience providing first-assist services across multiple surgical specialties
- Strong background in orthopedic surgical services
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and ancillary departments
