Key Responsibilities
Work under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide intraoperative assistance including exposure, hemostasis, and closure
Perform other intraoperative technical functions to help the surgeon carry out safe operations with optimal patient outcomes
Primarily serve as second assistant within cardiac surgical cases
Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate the needs of the surgical patient throughout the perioperative period
Cover regional call to support the cardiac surgery program across a multi-site health system
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Certification or training as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
Experience in cardiac surgical cases
Ability to perform intraoperative first and second assist functions
Availability for regional on-call coverage
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a perioperative or scrub role within cardiac surgery
Familiarity with multi-site health system environments and regional call coverage
