    Cardiac Surgery RN First Assistant

    Key Responsibilities
    • Work under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide intraoperative assistance including exposure, hemostasis, and closure
    • Perform other intraoperative technical functions to help the surgeon carry out safe operations with optimal patient outcomes
    • Primarily serve as second assistant within cardiac surgical cases
    • Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate the needs of the surgical patient throughout the perioperative period
    • Cover regional call to support the cardiac surgery program across a multi-site health system
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
    • Certification or training as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
    • Experience in cardiac surgical cases
    • Ability to perform intraoperative first and second assist functions
    • Availability for regional on-call coverage
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in a perioperative or scrub role within cardiac surgery
    • Familiarity with multi-site health system environments and regional call coverage
