Key Responsibilities
Work under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions
Support the surgeon in carrying out safe operations with optimal results for the patient
Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate the needs of the surgical patient during the perioperative period
Primarily 2nd assist within cardiac surgical cases
Cover regional call to support the Cardiac Surgery program across the health system
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
RN First Assistant (RNFA) certification or equivalent training/credentials required
Cardiac surgical experience required
Ability to participate in regional call coverage
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a 2nd assist role within cardiac surgical cases
Familiarity with perioperative nursing practices across a multi-site health system
