We are seeking an experienced RNFA Registered Nurse to join a healthcare facility in Mauston, WI and provide skilled surgical first assisting across a range of operative procedures. This role demands a highly proficient clinician who can collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and procedural efficiency. You will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care throughout the full continuum of the surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as first assistant to the surgeon during operative procedures, including tissue handling, hemostasis, and wound closure
• Perform preoperative patient assessments and contribute to individualized surgical care planning
• Assist with exposure, retraction, and suturing techniques to facilitate efficient surgical workflow
• Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout all phases of the surgical procedure
• Collaborate with the circulating nurse, scrub technician, and anesthesia team to ensure seamless intraoperative communication
• Provide postoperative wound assessment and patient education regarding surgical care and recovery
• Document intraoperative nursing care and first assistant activities accurately in the medical record
✅ Requirements
• Active WI or Compact RN license
• BLS, RNFA certifications
• 0+ years of RNFA - Registered Nurse First Assistant experience
• Current CNOR certification required; CRNFA certification strongly preferred
Pay
Pay range: $2,376 to $2,466 per week.
Travel RNFA RN package: up to $2,466/week (36 hours) = $37/hour taxable + up to $1,134/week in travel reimbursements if eligible under IRS tax-home and expense rules.
Local package: $66/hour fully taxable ($2,376/week for 36 hours).
Overtime paid in accordance with applicable wage-and-hour laws and the assignment agreement. Actual compensation varies based on hours worked, assignment terms and travel reimbursement eligibility.
