Behavioral Health RN – Travel Contract

Facility: Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital
Unit: Mountain View – Forensic Unit
Specialty: Behavioral Health RN
Location: Massachusetts
Contract: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Hours: 40 hours/week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: None
• Orientation: Biweekly on Tuesdays
• Local Radius: Candidates must live 60+ miles from the facility to qualify as travelers
• Local Rate: $75/hour

Required Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license required at submission
• 3+ years of RN experience
• Behavioral Health/Psychiatric experience required
• Experience working with mental health patients in a locked/forensic setting
• Experience administering medications using Omnicell
• BLS – AHA
• Handle With Care (HWC) — may be completed on site if needed
• All required certifications must be completed before start unless specifically allowed by the client

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN preferred
• Experience with trauma-informed care
• Experience caring for patients with complex behavioral and medical needs

• Unit: Mountain View – Forensic Unit
• Beds: 46
• Patient Ratio: 1 RN : 9 patients
• Patient Population: Adults 18+
• Patients may have a history of legal issues and are often at their final stage of care before community placement
• EHR: Cerner
• Equipment: Point-of-care blood glucose monitoring, vital signs equipment
• No floating required

Candidates should be comfortable caring for patients with:

• Bipolar disorder
• Schizoaffective disorder
• Major depression
• Substance abuse
• Personality disorders
• Diabetes
• Hypertension
• COPD
• Other chronic medical conditions
