Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Behavioral Health to provide comprehensive care to patients in an inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a variety of mental health disorders and be skilled in crisis intervention techniques.

Qualifications

• Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years required
• Traveler Experience: First-time travelers are accepted
• Locals Accepted: Yes
• Certifications: MOAB certification required

Required Skills

• Experience with inpatient care in a locked unit
• Knowledge of substance use/chemical dependency
• Understanding of anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and depressive disorders
• Experience with self-injurious behavior and suicidal behavior
• Ability to manage trauma and stressor-related disorders
• Proficient in medication administration, including antianxiety medications, antidepressants, and antipsychotics
• Skills in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention
• Willingness to work with a variety of patient demographics, including adults and geriatrics
• Experience with blood glucose monitoring and interpretation of lab values
• Comfortable using seclusion protocol and procedures as needed

Preferred Skills

• Experience with congenital/developmental disorders
• Familiarity with profound impulse control issues
• Ability to start and maintain IVs

Shift Details

• Target Ratios: 1:7
• Shift: Nights, 18:45 - 07:15
• Hours: 36-48 hours per week offered
• Contract Length: 13 weeks or more, through 02/27/27
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: None
• Float Requirement: May float to other units when necessary

Unit Information

The Behavioral Health unit is divided into two floors, with staff rotating between both areas. All team members are expected to work in every area of acuity. The unit has dedicated psych techs who assist with patient monitoring and milieu management. Nursing support is available 24/7 through on-site and virtual resources. Regular therapy sessions and group activities are conducted by a dedicated therapy team throughout the week.

Orientation and Training

Orientation consists of 32 hours, including both hospital orientation in the first week and unit-specific training. Travelers must be available for daily classes during this time.

Uniform Requirements

Scrubs must be navy blue.
