Job Requirements

• Active New York State RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric mental health or psychiatric nursing experience
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Strong communication, teamwork, and therapeutic relationship-building skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
• CPI certification is preferred
• Experience in a large academic medical center is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, and therapeutic nursing care to children and adolescents in acute psychiatric crisis
• Support patient stabilization through a multidisciplinary care approach
• Participate in and reinforce group-based interventions such as Activities Therapy, Mindfulness, Wellness, and Coping Skills groups
• Administer and monitor psychopharmacological interventions as ordered
• Collaborate closely with the care team to support patient goals and progress
• Maintain a structured, healing environment that promotes safety and dignity
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely
