Must-Have: - De-escalation experience - Experience with physical restraints - Comfortability to run groups - Strong documentation skills Description: Immediate start needed. Simplified interviews followed by manager approval. Candidates must be willing to float between pediatric and adult units as needed. Facility consists of 94 beds for pediatric patients and 44 beds for adults. Patients come from an emergency department and are medically cleared. Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria. Adult patients typically present with schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder, along with other diagnoses. There are no forensic patients or inmates; the facility is locked but not to the extent of holding patients under arrest. Seclusion rooms are available for necessary use. Occasionally, there will be substance use disorder or detoxing patients, but they must be medically cleared. Traditional medical and psychiatric care will be provided, along with specialized therapies. Patient ratios are as follows: - RN: Day 1:5-6; Night 1:13 with resource support. - Psych Techs for pediatric patients: Day 6 Psych Techs; Night 2 Psych Techs. - Psych Techs for adult patients: Day 2 Psych Techs; Night 2 Psych Techs. Travelers may have the opportunity to act as Charge Nurse, but this is not required. Support on the unit includes a Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, and an administrator available overnight and weekends. A Nurse Practitioner is on-site until 1600 and available on call overnight. Psychiatrists conduct daily rounds and are on call. Occupational Therapists are present seven days per week. Security personnel are on-site but do not respond to patient escalations; staff responds to such situations. The charting system used is Cerner, with Pyxis for medication management. Floating may occur between all units. Travelers expressing discomfort with floating to pediatric units should request manager approval. Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and holiday work is expected as part of scheduling. Modified self-scheduling is in place for travelers to sign up for preferred shifts, pending manager review. Scrub color must be solid and professional; any color is acceptable. Please convey during the interview that roles will be assigned during code escalations, with a code leader overseeing the situation. Travelers should communicate any need for additional de-escalation training. Scenario-based training occurs every other week for practice if needed.
