**Join Our Team as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse – Travel Opportunity!**
**Job Description:**
- Location: Kansas City, MO
- Unit Name: Adult 2
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours guaranteed option
- Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM
**Unit Specifics:**
- Number of Beds: 10
- Patient Ratios: Nurses 8 to 1, Mental Health Technicians 12 to 1
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: Coverage needed for three 12-hour shifts daily, including weekends
- Floating Policy: Staff utilized where the greatest need is
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assess patients' mental health status and recognize signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral issues
- Develop individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
- Provide crisis intervention and immediate support to patients in crisis
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and manage therapeutic communication to build trust with patients
- Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and medication effects
**Certifications Required:**
- BLS
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
**Dress Code:**
- Nurses: Blue uniforms
- Mental Health Technicians: Green or black uniforms
