Description:
Provides professional nursing care to patients in a correctional facility.
Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients.
Makes nursing rounds and takes vital signs.
Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans.
Monitors patients requiring close observation.
Provides immediate medical attention to emergencies and counsels patients regarding medical referrals.
Participates in staff development and education.
Reviews care plans written by staff and trains new employees.
Responsible for all healthcare of patients, performing evaluations and care plans.
Administers medications, including narcotics, and renders direct nursing care as needed.
Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, wound care, and CPR.
Organizes and oversees emergency response teams.
Directs healthcare staff assigned to the area.
Charts and records all medications, treatments, and pertinent medical information.
Completes required reports and maintains inventory of medications and supplies.
Arranges medical examinations and clinic appointments as necessary.
Conducts and/or attends meetings and serves as a member or leader of problem-solving teams or groups.
Adheres to security protocols while on duty.
Ensures compliance with regulations and standards within the facility.
