Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Behavioral Health Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience in Behavioral Health License: Valid Compact License required Certifications: CPR Certification; PMAB Certification required before starting Must-Have: - Minimum 1 year of inpatient acute care experience in Behavioral Health - Comfort with hands-on care, use of seclusion, restraints, and milieu management - Must have a vehicle for this assignment Description: This is an acute care position focused on Behavioral Health. The role involves floating between units based on the needs of the facility. The nurse will work a mid shift five times a week. Weekend work is required, specifically one weekend every two weeks. The expected patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5. Specific duties include crisis intervention, medication administration, and behavior management techniques. The nurse will be required to manage a wide spectrum of psychiatric diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe anxiety disorders. All staff must adhere to unit protocols concerning patient care. Physical ability to manage imminent patient needs or risks is essential. Travelers may be expected to float to other units as necessary. Compliance with unit policies and procedures is mandatory. This role requires strong skills in de-escalation techniques and managing assaultive behavior. All staff will receive training in the specific practices and requirements of the unit.
