Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in a psychiatric unit.
The unit has 25 licensed beds, which include adult and adolescent patients.
The nurse to patient ratios is 3:1 for adults and 6:1 for adolescents.
Common patient diagnoses include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other behavioral or personality disorders.
Nurses are expected to have good de-escalation skills and be comfortable assisting with direct patient care.
Mechanical restraints and seclusion are rarely utilized.
Mental health technicians and aids assist on the unit.
Respiratory therapy is available if needed, and the unit does not require nurses to read telemetry strips.
Shifts are self-scheduled based on seniority, with weekend and holiday coverage required every other week.
Floating throughout the facility may occasionally be necessary.
Dress code is business casual, excluding specific colors.
The unit is a locked inpatient environment with safety protocols in place for emergency situations.
Nurses should demonstrate patience and the ability to work collaboratively within the team.
