RN - Psych & Mental Health

Overview:

Seeking experienced travel Registered Nurses specializing in psychiatric and behavioral health to support a dedicated psychiatric unit in Tampa, Florida. This role offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced mental health environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Work nights and make a difference in the lives of adult patients with mental disorders.

Qualifications:

  • Active state nursing license
  • 1-2 years of recent Behavioral Health experience
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff
  • Experience with direct mental health patient care, medication supervision, and patient evaluation
  • Ability to assist physicians with patient management
  • Skilled in patient education for patients and families
  • Capable of orienting and mentoring new staff members
  • Comfort working in a team environment with collaboration across disciplines

Schedule and Contract:

  • Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: 08/17/2026
  • End Date: 11/14/2026
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
  • Weekend hours: 24
  • No call requirements
  • Float requirements: yes
  • Patient population: adult
  • Patient ratio: 1:12
  • Unit includes equipment such as Omnicell and utilizes EPIC electronic health records
  • Dress code: navy blue scrubs; no crocs

This position involves evaluating and treating patients with mental health conditions, supporting the treatment team, and maintaining a high level of professionalism in a behavioral health setting.
