Description:
Provides professional nursing care to inmates or consumers housed in a state-operated facility.
Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients.
Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs.
Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans.
Monitors restrained patients on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention to emergencies.
Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals.
Participates in staff development and education.
Reviews care plans and trains or orients new employees.
Responsible for all health care of multiple bedridden patients, making rounds and evaluating care needed.
Administers medications and renders direct nursing care as needed.
Organizes and oversees emergency response teams.
Documents all medications, treatments, and relevant medical information.
Completes required reports such as incident and accident reports.
Conducts clerical tasks related to patient care.
Additional responsibilities as assigned, ensuring a high standard of nursing care is maintained.
