Must-Have:
Primary continuous bedside monitoring (ECG, SpO2, BP, RR)
Cardiology specialty experience
Cardiac surgery specialty experience
Continuous invasive pressure monitoring (Arterial Line, CVP monitoring)
Temporary pacing (transvenous pacing, epicardial wire pacing)
Vasopressor infusion management (phenylephrine, norepinephrine)
Inotrope infusion management (milrinone, dobutamine)
Chest tube management
Phlebotomy
Peripheral IV insertion
Description:
The unit provides a bridge between progressive care and critical care.
It cares for complex patients who require a higher level of monitoring and nursing care.
Patient populations include cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients.
RNs will care for a complex cardiovascular population in a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Utilizing and strengthening cardiovascular assessment and clinical judgment skills is essential.
Early recognition of patient deterioration skills will be important.
Specialized nursing skills will include continuous invasive pressure monitoring and infusion management.
The role offers an opportunity to care for higher-acuity cardiovascular patients.
RNs will continue to develop clinical expertise in a collaborative progressive care setting.
