It is anticipated to open in November 2026. The unit will provide a bridge between the Heart and Vascular Unit and the Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit. RN staff will care for complex patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and care than what an acute care setting can provide. Patients will include those transitioning from critical care, recovering from cardiovascular procedures, and those requiring higher-level care from other areas. RNs will have a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio. This role will utilize and strengthen cardiovascular assessment, telemetry, clinical judgment, and early recognition of patient deterioration skills. Specialized nursing skills will include continuous invasive pressure monitoring, vasopressor and inotrope infusion management, temporary pacing, chest tube management, phlebotomy, and peripheral IV insertion. This environment offers an opportunity for RNs to care for higher-acuity cardiovascular patients while developing their clinical expertise in a collaborative progressive care setting.
