Description:
The unit requires nurses who can provide care for patients requiring intermediate care and downgraded critical care patients.
The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4, with a 1:3 ratio for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours.
Common diagnoses include cardiac and vascular-related conditions such as cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation, and congestive heart failure.
Nurses are expected to titrate drips and manage various medications including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, and nicardipine.
There is a charge nurse on each shift, typically not taking an assignment.
Patient care techs will be present on the unit with a ratio of 1:18.
Clientist and intensivist teams are on-site 24/7, with cardiology on call after hours.
Registered nurses will need to interpret telemetry strips, with support from remote telemetry technicians.
Shifts are scheduled by management, without options for block scheduling.
Weekend work is required every other week.
Floating to same-level and lower acuity units may be necessary.
The dress code is navy blue scrubs.
Orientation will be tailored to the needs and experience of the nurse.
Any time off requested should be limited to 7 days or less for each 13-week contract.
The hospital retains the right to cancel shifts as needed.
The charting system used on the unit is EPIC.
Type of care setting is acute.
This position does not require a BSN.
