Description:
POSITION: RN Surgical PCU
Shift hours: 4x12s, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM.
Charting: Experience with electronic health records required.
Weekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block.
Requests for time off, block, and special scheduling must be included with submission.
Facility reserves the right to call off 1 shift every 2 weeks.
Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract.
First-time travelers are accepted.
Required Certifications encompass ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
Required clinical skills include:
Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care.
Ventilator care for chronic trach patients.
Medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration).
Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP.
Rapid Response and Code team activation.
Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across various units.
Unit Ratios: Typically 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4.
The unit functions as a stepdown from the General Surgical ICU, with specialty focus and backup to the trauma unit.
Equipment includes ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, trach, endo tool, and PICC line.
Managed IV drips include Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, and others.
Remote telemetry; tele sitting implemented to increase patient care coverage.
Floating may be required within skill set.
High Facility Highlights include being a large acute care facility with over 700 licensed beds.
Recognized as a Level I Trauma Center and a teaching facility.
Offers advanced specialty care, including trauma and surgical services.
