Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in Stepdown in an acute care setting License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret strips; experience with IV drips; willingness to float to ICU if needed Description: Strict 75-mile radius rule applies. Must provide a copy of the driver's license. Experience of 2 years in a Stepdown setting is required without exception. A clinical interview or an "auto-offer" based on a resume review is available. Nurse aide to patient ratios are 1 to 5. The unit consists of 44 beds with 8 semi-private rooms. Charge Nurse operates as Clinical Supervisor. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Flexibility is necessary to work holidays and days around holidays. Telemetry systems used are Phillips. The role requires the nurse to read and interpret strips. Common IV drips include Cardizem (titrated), amiodarone, dobutamine, and others. Ventilators used are BiPap and CPAP only. A Clientist or Intensivist is in-house 24/7. IV Team is available 24/7 along with Pharmacy services. Shift hours are typically 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM. Floating to ICU may occur but will only involve Stepdown patients unless ICU experience is noted. Floor-specific orientation will be provided for 3 shifts. Common diagnoses include CABG, cardiovascular surgeries, arteriograms, thoracotomies, and others. Fast turnover of rooms is expected with an average census of 32-38 patients. Discharge and admit numbers can vary significantly on busy days. Attendance and flexibility regarding floating are emphasized. Must adhere to dress code: natural colored hair, no fake nails, no facial piercings, and no visible tattoos.
