Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit RN (Open Heart/Cardiothoracic) – West Virginia
Start Date: October 29, 2026
Location: West Virginia

Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), weekdays with every other weekend, floating as needed within scope. 36 or 48-hour contract options available. Please limit holiday RTO requests to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays.

- 29-bed Progressive Care Unit specializing in post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring; also accepts Med/Surg overflow
- 4:1 patient ratio with 36 hours guaranteed
- Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching facility with 838 staffed beds
- Cerner charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, and more
- Orientation held every other week on Thursday (16 hours); open to accommodating blocked schedule requests
- Free parking for travelers
Requirements:
- Active West Virginia RN license or Compact License (pending licenses accepted for submission)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
- Demonstrated experience with chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal
- Central line experience required
- Experience with external/internal pacemakers and wound vacs required
- Critical drip experience including: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, and Argatroban
- Telemetry experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case)
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles from the facility (75-99 miles may be considered for approval)
- Two manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years required
- Completion of non-billable modules (2-6 hours) prior to start date
